Roe Deer: Another trip around penny with John where we started at Ramsdale Hide in search of the Garganey which we dipped.

Green Sandpiper: Moving on to Teal Hide we spotted the same number of green sands as the other day, three still feeding around the edges.

And the buck Roe was still lurking around giving everyone in the hide a smile as it popped its head around the corner of a nearby bush.

John and I then moved on up to Horwich Moor hoping to see the fall of Spotted Flycatcher's and Redstart.

Green Sandpiper: A nice day off and a nice trip around penny through up some surprises.

Nice to see three green sands bobbing around the edges of teal scrape.

Two of these guys kept their distance roosting on the far bank while one of them came pretty close before getting spooked by a gang of Mallard which were busily flapping.

Roe Deer:  The biggest surprise was watching a pair of Roe that appeared out of nowhere and started running around the edges of teal scrape.

Dawn and I enjoyed watching them jumping through the water and in between the reeds, well worth the trip.

24/04/2013 Waddow Hall, Clitheroe

Roe Deer: I have just come back from Waddow Hall where I attended 'being the RSPB' course.

Waddow was stunning, really nice grounds, great wildlife and the place was full of Roe Deer, Brown Hare and birds namely Dipper and Goosander, although I didn't see any Dippers.




So I am now officially the RSPB! And have officially met some of the nicest people who work for the RSPB and who are doing some very important work.

15/01/2013 Longleat Center Parcs

Roe Deer: Springwatch had its very own mammal stump, well eat your heart out Springwatch as for one week I had my very own.

And mine had Deer and Badgers! 







Dawn and I, plus friends spent 4 nights at Longleat Center Parcs and upon arrival my first task was not the unpacking or grabbing the best bed, but putting out my bird seed and fat balls out in the garden.

I didn't bring any feeders so I decided to just scatter the food on an old tree stump which was visible from the lodge.

First came the birds, Coal Tit, Blue Tit and Robins, then first thing in the morning I opened the curtains and was amazed to see this Roe Deer feeding on the seed.

Badger: Then at around 5am I was woken up by a lodge mate running in to our room saying "there's a badger outside"

I shot up, grabbed my camera and there it was a huge Badger only a few feet away from the window nibbling on the scattered food, AWESOME!
